On June 13, 2015, Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 11, which has been called 鈥渃ampus carry,鈥� into law. Beginning Aug. 1, 2016, the law allows licensed holders to carry a concealed handgun on public university campuses, including the University of North Texas, 蘑菇视频 Health Science Center, 蘑菇视频 at Dallas and 蘑菇视频 System Administration Building.

Senate Bill 11 provides that reasonable rules and regulations regarding the carrying of concealed handguns on campus may be implemented after consultation with faculty, staff and students. The 蘑菇视频 System Administration sought feedback from its employees regarding the specific safety considerations and the uniqueness of the System building prior to developing a policy. The proposed policy was approved by the Chancellor and 蘑菇视频 System Board of Regents.
